Journeying Through the Tarot – A Course in Understanding Tarot Cards
BEGINS SEPTEMBER 2017 – please contact CJ for more info or to reserve your spot
Dare to explore! Tarot cards have long been looked at skeptically or dismissed as merely a fortune teller’s game but did you know they are actually based on a complex system of spiritual symbolism that includes astrology, numerology, psychology, the Kabbalah and alchemy? Tarot actually contains universal wisdom from many different mystical traditions encoded in a visual language that is as meaningful today as it was eons ago. It is therefore a valuable tool that can assist with our current spiritual and life journeys by teaching us all sorts of interesting things. If you love a great story, enjoy looking for hidden meanings in pictures and delight in solving riddles then you will love the tarot!
Deciphering the many multiple layers of meaning in the tarot is the key to understanding how to use it. In this exciting series of experiential workshops with artist and facilitator CJ Shelton you will discover how your own individual ‘hero’s journey’ is illustrated through the vivid imagery and symbolism of the 78 cards of the traditional tarot. CJ’s simple and effective approach breaks down many of the complexities that can be overwhelming when we first encounter these intriguing cards. Step by step, CJ will guide you on your own amazing journey to uncover the secret wisdom of the ages available to us through this amazing visual tool.
Each workshop is a combination of instruction, hands-on experiential learning, meditation and more. In Part 1 we will focus on the main “story” of the 22 main Major Arcana, then go on to discover the magical tools of the four tarot suits in Part 2. Part 3 takes us on a visit to the royal courts of the four suits to meet more fascinating characters. In Part 4 we will start pulling all the previous information together so that you can start becoming comfortable doing simple readings.
WHAT TO BRING: Please be sure to bring or purchase a traditional tarot deck (not an oracle deck). A traditional tarot deck will say so on the packaging and will have 78 cards (no more, no less). If you are not sure if you have a suitable deck please contact CJ prior to the class.
